Mosaic converts renters to buyers

Sought after suburban locations, thoughtful design and exceptional construction quality have inspired at least two renters to buy their Mosaic Property Group-developed apartments at Ashgrove and Newmarket.

Unlike many buyers, Peter Naoum and Ted Tow had the advantage of getting to know their apartments from the inside out before jumping off the rental roundabout and gaining a foothold on the property ladder.

Long-time inner west residents Peter and his partner Vilma moved into the Grove on Dorset complex at Ashgrove two years ago with no aspirations of property ownership.

But sustained low interest rates changed their outlook.

“With the rates staying low buying a property became a real option as the difference between mortgage repayments and rent was minimal,” Peter says.

“We started to look around the area for well appointed and designed apartments.

“But there did not seem to be very many properties on the market that ticked all of our boxes of wants, needs and price.”

However, the ticked boxes were right under their noses.

“After living in a similar apartment while renting for more than 12 months we were knowledgeable about the quality of the build, the finishes provided as well as the ambience and comfort of the complex,” Peter says.

“The apartment we bought offered a clever use of space both indoors and outdoors.

“I’m impressed by the way Mosaic creates indoor and outdoor living areas that blend together.

“And the oversize balcony areas are very important to me when considering apartment living.

“The positioning of the bedrooms, living areas, open kitchen and the balcony along with the natural light made the apartment attractive and the finishes used were good quality for the price.

“The Grove on Dorset complex is in a leafy street with great views and we have excellent access to local amenities and have just a short commute to the city.”

Their decision to purchase the apartment was also aided by their ability to easily use the property as an investment should they decide to move elsewhere.

At nearby Newmarket, Ted Tow fell in love with living in Est on Foster during the 18 months he rented his two-bedroom apartment.

“The apartment was managed by the developer and I found the professionalism and services of Mosaic’s Property Management team, led by Kym Cheney, to be superb.

“They were always easily contactable and responded promptly to phone calls or emails.

“And the upkeep of the grounds and the internal common areas by the body corporate is excellent.

“It’s just a pleasure to come home each day.”

So several months ago, when Ted’s landlord put the apartment on the market, he had no hesitation in making an offer.

“The quality of the build, the proximity to shops, cafes, restaurants, public transport and the city, and the views I had from my unit were big factors,” he says.

“Plus the knowledge I had gained from 18 months of renting there and seeing how the complex was managed and maintained meant I had no hesitation in putting in an offer.

“With the exceptional assistance given to me from Mosaic’s Sales and Client Relationships team, I was able to negotiate a successful deal with the seller.

“I’m so very happy at the outcome and I now call the Newmarket unit my home.

“I love living here, thanks Mosaic!”
