Mosaic's fifth and latest development for the Sunshine Coast, First Bay by Mosaic in Coolum Beach, has topped off-the-plan sales for the region in the six months to March 2020, while Avalon by Mosaic in Maroochydore remains one of the best-selling development of the past 12 months, according to Place Projects' latest Apartment Report.

As highlighted in the report, the combination of First Bay’s scarce, direct beach-front location and limited collection of premium apartments saw it convincingly outperform 30 developments across the region.

Over 90% of the $41m project is now sold, mainly to local owner-occupiers. Construction is underway with an expected completion of late 2021, generating over 1,000 new jobs for the region.

First Bay was one of the most highly anticipated launches in Coolum’s history, with more than 1,000 enquiries received in weeks of its initial release. It follows on from Mosaic’s second project for Coolum, the equally successful Drift, completed in late 2019.

Taking its name from the iconic bay it overlooks and designed in partnership with Ellivo Architects, the ultra-exclusive First Bay comprises 38 luxury apartments and penthouses across two separate, architecturally distinct buildings, that set it apart from anything developed before in the area.

Each residence takes full advantage of the gently sloping site that sits between Coolum Terrace and David Low Way to maximise majestic views of the Pacific Ocean and coastline.

Resident amenity includes a striking beach entry with shower, surfboard and bike storage and a resort-style pool and entertaining area. Over 600sqm of native landscaping surrounds and connects the development, responding to the dry, arid, coastal elements of the headlands to preserve the natural sense of place.

Mosaic Founder and Managing Director, Brook Monahan, said that the latest results are a testament to the Company’s commitment to delivering premium developments that closely align with market demand.

“Drift by Mosaic kick-started a luxury revolution for Coolum, selling out in a record three months with very little promotion and largely to local owner-occupiers and downsizers.”

“We received overwhelming feedback that Drift’s style and quality were precisely what the market was seeking but couldn’t find. First Bay raises the bar again – an exemplar boutique luxury collection of homes that fully embrace Coolum’s incredible, appealing atmosphere. Every detail has been meticulously planned from the architecture and the building quality to interior material selection and finish.”

The UDIA award-winning Avalon by Mosaic in Maroochydore is also nearing sell-out, with construction on track for an early 2021 completion.

Officially launched in late 2018, Avalon features a total of 86 two and three-bedroom apartments, including a range of exclusive waterfront residences. The development boasts a variety of five-star resort amenity, including ground-floor artisan café, gym, sauna, steam room, private pontoon, watercraft storage, resort pool, sun decks and an exclusive concierge service.

Mr Monahan said there had been a definite positive shift in sentiment over the last month, following the uncertainty caused by COVID-19.

“Enquiry levels for both Avalon and First Bay are back at levels we were experiencing prior to COVID-19 – especially given people have had time to really think about where and how they want to live. They recognise the rarity of the offering, and with construction powering ahead the flight to quality is evident now more than ever.”

“The Sunshine Coast is one of the most exciting regions in Australia. More and more people recognise the unbeatable lifestyle on offer, as well as the huge pipeline of infrastructure investment that is stimulating the economy and putting it on the world stage” said Mr Monahan.

“We are certainly optimistic about the second half of 2020 and more broadly, about the region’s enormous potential looking forward over the next five years. We are also especially glad to be supporting the local economy through job creation and investment into the region. Property development and construction are critical to spearheading the post-pandemic recovery.”

First Bay by Mosaic has a limited range of 3-bedroom apartments remaining from $928,000. Avalon’s final stage release has 2-bedroom apartments priced from $539,000 and 3-bedroom from $999,000.
