Joining in late 2015, Accounts Officer Kay was Mosaic's 20th employee. A much-valued and esteemed member of our team, Kay reflects on her time, the company's growth, and what has been her biggest highlight in the past six years.
How long have you worked here, and did you start out in the same role you are in now?
My journey began on Melbourne Cup Day in 2015 when I started in the Finance Department at Mosaic, working 25 hours a week. I was employee no 20. In those early days in the finance department, there was only the manager and one other part-time employee, my lifelong friend Belinda.
Describe what your role is, which department do you work for, what does your department do?
The finance department is the engine room of Mosaic. My role, in the beginning, was mainly an extra pair of hands doing bank reconciliations, processing invoices and fortnightly payment runs and helping in any way I could as the company grew. Now, I look after the development and overhead companies invoices.
Whilst the role has not changed dramatically, and I continue to enjoy all aspects of my job, the company has grown immensely. The finance and IT department have now grown to 11.
What do you love most about coming to work every day?
I find coming to work a joy, and this is largely due to the people I work with. Building relationships with people is something I strive to achieve and is incredibly rewarding.
In August 2018, I was the joint inaugural winner of the Mosaic Way Award. To this day receiving this award has been one of the highlights of my time here at Mosaic. To be acknowledged by your peers has been a very humbling experience.
Describe Mosaic in one word.
Passion.
How do you like to relax/spend your downtime?
Whilst travelling has been curtailed for the moment, I love to read, entertain and dining out and look forward to when we can stretch our wings once again and explore the world.
