With the ongoing rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne as to which city is more “liveable, cultural or interesting” being a never-ending saga, Brisbane has slowly but surely crept up to prove itself as the city that could!

Brisbane has a myriad of benefits to offer to residents that make it so genuinely “liveable” and the best capital city to live in out of the three.

Firstly, the weather is great, the tropical and green surrounds are plentiful, making weekend’s away to the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast easily accessible.

The culture in Brisbane has been evolving over many years with an incredible underground music scene, trendy suburbs and great food enclaves.

The Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) at Southbank is constantly hosting world-class exhibitions, while Queensland Art Gallery is home to a comprehensive international collection, including a very healthy amount of Australian art.

The trendy areas of West End and Fortitude Valley is where you will find every conceivable cuisine imaginable, while the CBD and Southbank offer fine dining restaurants that serve hatted dishes, which you can enjoy whilst gazing over the Brisbane river.

The culture of Brisbane is enhanced by the large young and professional demographic drawn to the third best university in Australia, The University of Queensland.

Lastly but certainly not least, is the major drawcard of the favourable property prices that Brisbane offers.

The fundamentally free feeling of living in a city where the cost of a family home has not escalated dramatically enables Brisbane residents to grow and not feel the need to move once prices begin to become unaffordable.

Queensland homes are not only aesthetically pleasing but are also relatively cheap, surrounded by established tree lined streets and are on larger lots which also enable a much more diverse product range from developers, such as apartments, townhouses and detached dwellings that aren’t 25kms from the CBD.

Many Melbourne and Sydney residents would be surprised with what they could buy on the doorstep of Brisbane’s CBD for the same price as a small house 8kms from the CBD in one of their cities.

With a cheaper mortgage and many lifestyle opportunities to keep you occupied, you can spend more money and time treating yourself to all that Brisbane City has to offer.
