Being a Good Neighbour

Tips for Considerate Apartment Living

At Mosaic, we’re committed to delivering an exceptional living experience for all Residents. While thoughtful design and high-quality finishes play a major role, the overall enjoyment of your home is equally shaped by the shared experience of community living.

Every Resident plays a part in fostering a respectful, considerate, and welcoming environment.

For some, apartment living is familiar. For others, it may be an entirely new experience. One of the most common adjustments is navigating the everyday realities of communal living — particularly when it comes to being mindful of others.

Drawing on our experience, we’ve compiled some helpful tips for harmonious apartment living:

  • Be mindful of noise: Bass vibrations, loud music, TV volume, and social gatherings can easily travel between apartments. Please keep noise to a considerate level at all times, especially after 10:00pm.
  • Soften sound transfer: Using rugs or felt pads under furniture can help reduce noise and protect your floors. At the same time, remember some level of noise is normal in shared living — this is your neighbour’s home too.
  • Respect building rules: Familiarise yourself with your building’s By-Laws, amenity guidelines, and any resident notices. Your Body Corporate can provide a copy of the relevant By-Laws for your building.
  • Approach issues respectfully: If a concern arises, a respectful conversation with your neighbour is often the most effective first step.

If you feel uncomfortable addressing an issue directly or it involves inappropriate or unsafe behaviour (such as an ongoing late-night party), it’s best to contact the police at the time of the incident.

For assistance following an incident, or to lodge a report, please contact your Property Manager (if applicable) or the Strata Manager, who can guide you on appropriate next steps.

Please note that Mosaic’s Residential Services Team and Caretaking teams are not responsible for mediating neighbour disputes.

We hope these tips help support a connected, considerate community and an enjoyable living experience for all.
