Drift by Mosaic has taken out the Sunshine Coast's Best Residential Building Award at Master Builders Queensland's Housing and Construction Awards.
Last Friday evening, August 7, Drift by Mosaic was announced Winner of the Residential Building over $20 million category at the 2020 Master Builders Queensland, Sunshine Coast Housing & Construction Awards.
On a rare north-facing, beachfront site in Coolum Beach Drift was the first new apartment development to be delivered to the area in over 13 years. Highlighting the quality of its design, finish and incredible location, Drift sold out within three months of its launch.
Responsive design takes full advantage of the sloping 4161m2 site while remaining sensitive to scale. Increasing yield without increasing apparent size, traditional boundaries were pushed to allow for some apartments to sit below ground level. The result presents Drift as four levels above and two below the natural ground level.
The design features four compartmentalised “pods” with extensive feature cladding and screening to reduce perceived bulk and size. Native landscaping responds to the dry, arid, coastal elements from the headlands, preserving the natural, valuable character of the location and softening built form. Clean lines and materials in a timeless, neutral colour palette were selected for Drift’s highly visual location and environmental sustainability.
The building incorporates open-air, ventilated walkways into the façade. No enclosed corridors led to value-add outcomes for buyers, including a private ‘Beach Room’; a secure entry space with shower and storage space for a surfboard or bicycle.
Oversized apartments feature stylish, woodgrain timber-look tiles or luxurious engineered oak. Custom kitchens feature 20mm stone benchtops, gas cooktops, Smeg or DeLonghi appliances, designer fixtures and fittings and 2-Pac finish. Living areas incorporate feature VJ walls, split or ducted air conditioning and sheer curtains. Spacious balconies account for 15% of total living space to maximise the benefits of Drift’s exceptional location.
Drift’s amenity, relative the size of the development is extensive. An incredible showpiece pool is grand in scale, measuring 18.2 m long and, at its widest, 7.3m. Taking pride of place in the centre of the complex it is surrounded by subtropical landscaping and intimate cabanas wrapped in Decowood. The elevation allows for ocean views, while the installation of a unique 3.8m wide x 1.2m high’ viewing window’ overlooking the BBQ and entertaining area provides a captivating water feature.
Drift is a certified UDIA EnviroDevelopment, having adopted a range of environmental initiatives beyond regulatory requirements. This includes solar panels to offset common area power usage and rainwater tanks for landscape irrigation.
Completed in October 2019, the development has been the recipient of multiple awards and recognition to date, to which we are indeed very proud to add this latest achievement.

The Eminence, a $40 million six-level, A-grade commercial and retail building in Fortitude Valley, was a joint venture between the Mosaic Property Group and the Pellegrino Group Australia.
