Apartments trump houses as the preferred lifestyle option

Eight in 10 home hunters would buy a new apartment over a house and land package, research reveals.

A recent survey conducted by has revealed that eight in 10 home buyers would choose to buy a new apartment rather than invest in house and land.

With first home buyers often priced out of a house in inner Brisbane, apartments nearby the city are proving to be an attractive alternative.

The survey found most upsizers are considering an off-the-plan apartment, an opportunity to own their own homes with a large number prepared to pay more for a secure car park.

Many of the in-demand suburbs for new apartments are located on the Gold Coast where there has previously been a lower level of development.
